RLH Wins Award For Innovation In Health Care Delivery

RLH Receives University of Regina Centre on Aging & Health Award. The Regina Lutheran Home has been chosen to received the 2015 University of Regina Centre on Aging and Health Award for Innovation in Health Care Delivery. A committee of seniors adjudicated all the submissions and chose Regina Lutheran Home unanimously for the innovation of implementing the role of the Nurse Practitioner into the Eden Alternative philosophy of care and impacting measurable improvements in senior health care. Regina Lutheran Home, team of RN NP’s Deanna Barlow, Stella DeVenney, and Maureen Klenk and senior leadership were recognised at the award ceremony and will be featured in the Center on Aging and Health newsletter and website.

(Regina) – Eden Care Communities is proud to announce that Regina Lutheran Home, an Eden Care Community, has been presented the inaugural Award for Innovation in Health Care Delivery from the Centre on Aging and Health.

“We are thrilled to be the first ever recipients of this important award,” says Eden Care Communities CEO Alan Stephen.  “The philosophy used at the Regina Lutheran Home is the same approach we have taken with all of our communities in Regina and is based on the Eden Alternative which focuses on creating a better quality of life for everyone in our community.”

“The award from the University of Regina’s Centre on Aging and Health is designed to recognize Regina-based individuals, groups, or organizations offering health care to older adults who have introduced an innovative approach to service provision or who has conducted field research to evaluate services or programs for older persons,” says Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos .

“This award is a testament to the great team at Regina Lutheran Home who are committed to improving the lives of all our Elders,” adds Stephen.  “We are very proud of our dedicated and passionate team who are committed to our vision of helping all members of our community realise their potential and to provide them with options for continuing to live a full and productive life – free from boredom, loneliness and helplessness.” The award recognised the Regina Lutheran Home for their implementation of Nurse Practitioners to their Eden Care Philosophy.  The award highlighted Regina Lutheran Home for implementing innovation into long-term care.

The award was presented during the annual University of Regina’s Centre on Aging & Health Distinguished Lecture.
